Saudi Arabia: House guest drugs host, robs him

A Bangladeshi immigrant worker in Abha, Saudi Arabia, will have to think twice in future before offering to host someone for dinner.

According the Saudi Gazette, the unnamed worker had invited an Indian he met in the course of duty to his house for dinner. But, his hospitality turned sour when the guest slipped some drugs into his drink, and proceeded to rob the house when the pill knocked out his host.

The Indian worker has since been arrested by the police.

Nigeria: worshippers find headless body near church

Worshippers on their way to an early morning church service at the Catholic Basilica of the Holy Trinity in Onitsha, Nigeria, were in for a rude shock as they discovered a headless body quite close to the gate of their church.

The body which belonged to a young man had been covered with plantain leaves when it was discovered.

The area police commander, Mr. Rasheed Akintunde said his men were investigating the incident. Many people in that area believe the victim was murdered and his head taken away for ritual purposes.

Austria: man locks up daughter for 24 years

A 73-year-old Austrian man has been nabbed by the police for allegedly locking up her daughter in a cellar for 24 years and having as many as seven children with her.

The suspect, who is named only as Josef F. by the Amstetten police in the Lower Austria Province, was said to have drugged and handcuffed her child before locking her up in 1984.

The lady who is now 42 years old only regained her freedom when one of her teenage kids became sick and needed to be rushed to the hospital.

Quite incredibly, her mother who is known as Rosemarie, claims she had no knowledge of what was going on between father and daughter in her captivity.

Australia: bank robber becomes journalist, returns to jail

This is the story of Bernie Matthews, who once claimed that he enjoyed robbing a bank better than having sex.

He was convicted in 1969 for at least seven armed robbery incidents and spent 18 years in jail, during which he made numerous attempts to break out of prison.

Once he came out of prison in 2000, he studied journalism and became a famous writer with a book titled “Intractable”. However, on April 25, 2008, Matthews was back in court In New South Wales province in Australia, charged with 20 drugs and firearms offences.

Matthews, 59, is from Woonona in Australia.

Woman finds alligator in her kitchen

69-year-old Sandra Frosti of Oldsmar near Tampa-Florida in the USA, walked into her kitchen this month and found an uninvited visitor waiting for her: It was an eight-foot long alligator.

Ms Frosti told reporters that “I heard a noise from the kitchen, and was much too loud to have been my cat, so I went to check it out. Much to my surprise, a very large alligator was in my kitchen.”

The police and wildlife experts later came and removed the alligator.

India: woman gives birth to baby with two faces

All through her pregnancy, Sushma, an India lady who lives some 50 km (31 miles) from capital city of New Delhi, did not know she was carrying a unique baby. It was only upon delivery on March 11, 2008, that she found out how different her baby was: she was born with two well-formed faces.

Little baby Lali’s father says that villagers in Saini Sunprura, have been coming to their house to worship the baby. They believe she is a reincarnation of a Hindu goddess.

God told me to kill people – New Zealander

An irate 22-year-old New Zealander jumped into his car, drove through a crowd, killed two people instantly and injured 28 others, and then claimed that it was God that instructed him to commit his gruesome act.

Mr. Lipine Sila, who is a factory work, committed the murder last May at a huge party on Edgeware Road, Christchurch (capital city). He pleaded not guilty when arraigned in court on April 21, 2008.

Eye-witnesses claim there was a fight at the party when Sila entered his car and just drove through the crowd. He later told the police that God instructed him to get away from the crowd.

Nigeria’s police boss says : some of my men are mad

Nigeria’s police boss, Inspector General Mile Ikiro, has admitted that some of his men in uniform are mentally unstable.

Testifying before his country’s House (parliament) Committee on Police affairs, the police boss said: “I want to let the honorable members know that in doing police job, one has to be in sound mind to be effective in securing life and properties. After the re-screening exercise, we found out that some new recruits were not mentally disciplined.”

In 2004, former Nigerian president, Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo, then in office, directly accused the Nigerian police of recruiting armed robbers into the force.
